XBGuide Terms of Service

By adding or using XBGuide (the "bot") in a Discord server or as a user app, or by using the xbguide.com website and API, you agree to these terms.

What XBGuide does

XBGuide displays Xbox Live information - profiles, achievements, gamer cards, leaderboards, Game Pass and Microsoft Store listings - using publicly available Xbox Live data provided through the OpenXBL API. It also publishes independent monitoring of Xbox service availability.

Fair use

  • Don't spam commands, automate requests to the bot, or attempt to bypass cooldowns.
  • Don't use the bot to harass other players (for example, repeatedly looking up someone to target them).
  • Don't attempt to exploit, reverse engineer, or disrupt the bot or its data sources.

We may block users or servers that abuse the bot.

The website

xbguide.com publishes player pages, signature badges and status information built entirely from public Xbox Live data - the same information visible on a public Xbox profile. Player pages are served with noindex, so they are kept out of search engines.

If you would like a page for your own gamertag removed, ask through /feedback or the support server linked in /about. Removal takes effect immediately across the player page, gamer card, signature badge, API lookup and the gamertag/XUID converter. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Status information is provided on a best-effort basis. XBGuide's monitoring is independent and is not an official Microsoft or Xbox status source. Each status page states what its checks actually verify, and those checks do not guarantee that any particular console, account or game will work.

The public API

Most of the JSON API at /api/... is free and needs no key. Profile lookups require an API key, because they consume a paid third-party quota. In return:

  • Cache responses on your side rather than requesting the same data repeatedly.
  • Requests are rate limited per IP address, and per key where a key is used. Excessive or abusive use will be blocked.
  • The API is offered without any availability or stability guarantee. Endpoints may change or be withdrawn.
  • Data served is public Xbox Live information. You are responsible for how you use it, including complying with any applicable rules of Microsoft or Xbox.

API keys

  • Keys are issued to a person or project and must not be shared, resold, or published. Treat a key like a password.
  • You are responsible for traffic sent with your key. If it leaks, ask for it to be revoked.
  • We may revoke, rate limit, or refuse a key at any time, particularly where use threatens the service for everyone else.
  • Do not use a key to build a bulk mirror or scrape of Xbox profile data.

Data

Linking your gamertag with /link set is optional. What XBGuide stores and how to delete it is described in the Privacy Policy. You can remove your data at any time with /link remove.

Availability and accuracy

XBGuide is provided "as is", free of charge, with no uptime or accuracy guarantees. Xbox data comes from third-party APIs and may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. Features may change or be removed at any time.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of XBGuide are not liable for any damages arising from use of the bot, the website, or the API.

XBGuide is a fan-made project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft Corporation, Xbox, or Discord Inc. Xbox is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
